ALBANY PRIDE acknowledges the Menang people of the Noongar nation as the traditional custodians of the land, skies and waterways on which we live and celebrate. We recognise their continuing connection to culture and honour their deeper understanding of this beautiful Country known as Kinjarling, “place of rain”. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and emerging, and we strive to honour the brotherboys, sistergirls and LGBTIQA+ community who persevere in the face of adversity. We are grateful for the opportunity to come together and celebrate on this Country we are so lucky to call home. Finally, we acknowledge that sovereignty of this land was never ceded and recognise that the violence of colonialism committed by settlers is ongoing and pervasive.
