A very busy day for Albany Pride today, as we held a strategic meeting to drive the future direction for our organisation and reaffirm and our values, visions, and missions.
It was truly wonderful to see so many of our community attend in the morning, to offer their feedback for Albany Pride in what we’re doing well, and what we need to improve on. Albany Pride always welcomes feedback and takes it very seriously, and in our consultations with you this morning, you provided feedback that was truly invaluable – we genuinely cannot thank you enough for this, it really helps us as a committee to drive Albany Pride and all we do forward.
One of the key points raised is that our communication with our members and attendees needs improving in letting you all know what’s going on behind-the-scenes, and what we’re doing aside from our events. As we’re a group of folk who don’t like to waste time, we’ve already established a few ways to make it easier for you to know what’s going on – and we’ll soon be launching a regular newsletter that will keep you in the know.
We’d also like to give our huge thanks to Ricky, Claire and Ella, who came along and helped facilitate us today, their help was incredible, and has made our ongoing process of organisation and direction more clear.
Since our inception in 2011, Albany Pride has grown significantly and exponentially, and as such this has presented a few challenges that we’ve been keen to tackle head-on and in the best way possible, with our community here in Albany (and surrounds) completely in mind, so that we can serve them in the best way possible.
But thanks to everyone involved today, we’re confident about how we’re going to approach this and what we aspire Albany Pride to achieve for our community.
For those of you who are hoping to become involved with your local LGBTQIA+ community, we’ll have plenty of opportunities coming up that we will keep you informed of (not to mention, we’ll soon be planning for our next Pride Festival in 2023!).
There are great things ahead for Albany and our LGBTQIA+ community, we promise! Again, to all those who attended – thank you!
