LET’S BRING THE RAINBOW HOME TO THE RAINBOW COAST!

Across Australia, towns and cities are famous for their ‘big things’ – from Giant Rams, Bananas, Pineapples, Lobsters or Guitars – and of course, it is absolutely tragic that the only ‘big’ thing Albany can boast is rainfall!

The Big Rainbow Project is looking for a home to place a giant rainbow – and considering we are located on the aptly-named Rainbow Coast, we think Albany/Kinjarling is the PERFECT place for it. Despite having a reputation for being conservative, we have a wonderful and vibrant LGBTQIA+ community, that add plenty of colour to the region, and most importantly, always pull together.

That’s definitely something worth celebrating and commemorating, right?”Out of more than 150 ‘Big Things’ across Australia, the Big Rainbow is the first landmark to celebrate our vibrant and widespread regional LGBTQIA+ community.

Funded by Tinder, the project has come to life in close collaboration with members of the community, from concept to its final design. With your help, we hope to find its future home in regional Australia, to champion diversity, inclusion and self-expression.”
