In the early hours of June 28th, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighbourhood of New York City.
May 17th is the annual observance of IDAHOBIT – The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia, a call for action to acknowledge and challenge the pervasive forms of prejudice and antagonism against members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Here’s to the ‘L’ in the LGBTQIA+ community, and time to celebrate and recognise the wonderful contributions and activism lesbians have made to LGBTQIA+ rights and our society and culture as a whole.
